Song Lyrics
But it hurts my hands to hold the rope
I won't be such an easy mark
You're no better than a lonely sailor
And all the candles on the cake
All set fire to the gate
Turn the canons toward the boats
Now we're drowning in the moat
It was the end of all of the rowers' hope
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
If you call, then I'm coming out
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
You want to sink, so I'm going to let you
All I want's some earth and seed
To only grow the things I need
But first I must find my way back
And you go lay out on this track
In youth I had an even keel
Now I'm not sure what is real
It's taken me this long to learn
That every day you dig for worms
And once they're gone, they don't return
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
If you call, then I'm coming out
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
You want to sink, so I'm going to let you
Woah, to get you
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
You want to sink, so I'm going to let you
At dawn the fire snuck into your bedroom
Now I'm falling asleep to forget you
How darkly the dark hand met his end
He was withered and bony
Exposed for a phony
But we heed the last words that he penned
"Haste to disgrace the traitor
Do not wait 'til later"
I don't think that you've got to pretend
I see God in birds
And Satan in long words
But I know what you need in a friend
So now when I leave you, I hope I won't see you
How darkly the dark hand met his end
He was withered and bony
Exposed for a phony
But we heed the last words that he penned
"Haste to disgrace the traitor
Do not wait 'til later"
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
If you call, then I'm coming out
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
You want to sink, so I'm going to let you
Woah, to get you
If you call, then I'm coming out
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
You want to sink, so I'm going to let you
At dawn the fire snuck into your bedroom
Now I'm falling asleep to forget you
In the end,
I don’t care about fucking sea imagery
Or having breadth and width to my writing.
I don't care about secrecy
Or covering up my feelings.
Please, call me a stalker, call me hung up,
Call me the spawn of the devil.
Writing takes all the bad stuff out of me
And puts it on a page
A page that functions like a jar
And the publish button screws on the lid.
All the nightmares, and hurt, and lies
And raw fears that plague my brain
Go into the jar,
And I can look at them and laugh
When the lid is on tight
And they can't get me anymore.
So let me say what I need to,
So my fears don't eat me alive.
Because not saying a word,
Might just kill me.
All I want to say is,
Don't talk to me about not working.
It has nothing to do with that.
You screwed me over,
You lied,
You played the wrong chick
Because I was it
And now you shoved it away.
So im gone, trust me
I’m out of your way,
And I can’t see any part of you anymore.
But you already knew,
It was already over,
I don’t need some beach scene to tell you that.

The Sea
Sometimes I feel like the sea
Could swallow me whole
Like my cries and wishes die upon its waves.
I’m afraid of its depths
Scared of things I can’t see
Pain I can’t stop
It makes me think of death:
Death in pointless or power trip wars
And crying real, ugly tears
And suicide without saying goodbye
And blood and guns and things that
That plague the darkness behind my blue eyes
As my feet step deeper and deeper
And I can’t see them anymore;
As my legs go numb,
And so does my heart.
The water rushes in
Leaves me to rush back out;
Swept it away, gave it back to me
Like a present I was lucky to have.
Hearts simply rising and falling with the tides.
Didn’t want to say hello,
To look at the shine on the waves
Or trust in fate
Cause all I could see was the falling tide.
Love, sweet love
That grew as empty as the dune neighborhood
Beyond the beach.
It's been bought out by the airport
Just a skeleton of what it used to be.
The silence is deafening
The pure desertion is sickening.
I don’t want to go to the beach anymore
See frayed shorts running down the sand
I don’t want to see the game I created
Thrust its finger in my face.
Deserted dune streets and LAX lights
A whole airport, a city
Shining fake, phony, empty stars
Onto my back.
But shining on the beach,
Shining in my eyes,
Trying to light up my heart
Is a sky of burning fire
And endless hope.
That’s where I really turn.
It's all that I need to be.
Simply looking down on
A fading scene of you, me and the sea.

lyrics
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
And cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war,
For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

complete and utter shit.
lyrics
a person to talk to
someone who'd care to love
could it be you
could it be yo-ou
the situation gets rough,
and I start to panic
it's not enough
it's just a habit
and, kid, you're sick
darling this is it
well you can all just kiss off into to the air
behind my back
I can see that stare
they'll hurt me bad but i won't mind
they'll hurt me bad they do it all the time
yea yea
yea they do it all the time
yea yea
they do it all the time
yea yea
they do it all the time
do it all the time
they do it all the time
do it all the time
they do it all the time
do it all the time
I hope you know that this will go down on your permenent record
oh yea
well don't get so distressed
did I happen to meantion that i'm impressed
I take one one one cause you left me and
two two two for my family and
three three three for my heartache and
four four four for my headaches and
five five five for my lonely and
six six six for my sorrow and
seven seven for no tomorrow and
eight eight I forget what eight was for but
nine nine nine for the lost gods
ten ten ten ten for everything everything everything
well you can all just kiss off into to the air
behind my back
I can see that stare
they'll hurt me bad but i won't mind
they'll hurt me bad they do it all the time
yea yea
yea they do it all the time
yea yea
yea they do it all the time
do it all the time
do it all the time
do it all the time
do it all the time
do it all the time
time time time time

metaphors
Its like running when you can't breathe.
Its like a battle fought daily.
Its like an annual flower.
Its like a dragon slain.
Its like a song you don't know the words to.
Its like a good, pointless cry.
Its like traffic when you're running late.
Its like you have nothing to say.
Its like when you remember something you lost.
Its like a daisy chain crown.
Its like those rare nights when you fall asleep happy.
Its like the world never stops spinning.
Its like you're fleeing and you don't know why.
Its like trying to sew your heart back together- again.
Its like falling for a figment of your imagination.
Its like you know it can't hurt you.
Its like you have to- no, you need to know.
Its like a six am I love you.
Its like the cold hard dirty concrete.
Metaphors relate things that don't seem to match.
Things in a muddle.
I live in a muddle.
And I live in my metaphors.
I hide behind them, I use them so that I can keep skirting the issue,
So that I can keep lying. So that I don't have to make the hard decision
between what I want, who I am, and who I want to be.
But honestly, life is like metaphors.
My life at least. I use them till I'm blue in the face
But in the end I have to realize
That's all it is:
A metaphor.
Life.
And its not looking to hold up to a storm,
Its just trying to find the right words to spell out the truth.

lyrics
Can't you just forget it?
I started something I couldn't finish
And if we go down,
We go down together
Best friends means,
Well best friends means
And I've got a twenty-dollar bill
That says you're up late night starting
Fist fights versus fences in your backyard
Wearing your black eye like a badge of honor
Soaking in sympathy
From friends who never loved you
Nearly half as much as me
Broken down in bars and bathrooms
All I did was what I had to
Don't believe me when I tell you
It's just what anyone would do
Take the time to talk about it
Think a lot and live without it
Don't believe me when I tell you
It's something unforgivable
Well I can't regret,
Can't you just forget it?
I started something I couldn't finish
If we go down,
We go down together
Best friends means,
Well best friends means
You never knew
Well I never told you...
Everything I know about breaking hearts
I learned from you, it's true
I've never done it with the style and grace you have
But I've made long term plans
Based on these mistakes
Broken down in bars and bathrooms
All I did was what I had to
Don't believe me when I tell you
It's just what anyone would do
Take the time to talk about it
Think a lot and live without it
Don't believe me when I tell you
It's something unforgivable
Is this what you call tact?
I swear you're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back
So let's end this call,
And end this conversation
There's nothing worse...
(That's right he said, that's right he said it)
( Have another drink and drive yourself home)
I swear, you have no idea
( I hope there's ice on all the roads)
The jealousy that became me thinking
( And you can think of me when you forget your seat belt)
(That's right he said)
( And again when your head goes through the windsheild)
That you always had it way too easy
Broken down in bars and bathrooms
All I did was what I had to
Don't believe me when I tell you
It's just what anyone would do
Take the time to talk about it
Think a lot and live without it
Don't believe me when I tell you
It's something unforgivable
Best friends means I pulled the trigger
Best friends means you get what you deserve

Petit Mort
excuses
and trapdoors
and serenades
and promises,
and luck
and trust
and deep, aching regrets.
that plague you
and haunt you
and extend a friendly hand,
and chew you up
and fail you
and woo you
and kill you...
but slowly
and softly
and with no emotion at all.
which makes you run
and scream
and hide because you know it's going to turn out ok, everything does, everything has to, everything does...
but for the life of you,
you cannot see,
dream,
feel,
or lie to yourself
enough to find a clear answer as to how you're going to claw
out of the hole this time.
and secretly,
you're waiting and wandering.
anticipating the arrival of the one person who will look...
then look again
and somehow see all the running and screaming and hiding
and will reach in a hand.
a real, solid, firm, open hand.
and some run from it,
suspicious and scared of this new thing called hope
and related too closely to love.
but some take the hand,
some really do
and they are thrust out of the hole into the arms of the person who...
who they may love,
who they may need
but they have to stop simply
looking back as they sprint away
and just stop running all together.
they need to accept their fate,
warm and blinding.
cause here's their other half,
the only person who cared enough and dared enough
and looked hard enough
to see that this person was drowning fast in the storm of their memories.
and when they finally escape the endless hole
and the hateful sea
and the crushing fist of despair
and every other cliche that the book could possibly hurl at them,
they wake up warm and safe
and healed
and smiling
under a sky filled with endless possibilities
and hopes
and cares
and embraces
and stars.
so many stars...
