i have to get out of this bed
she didn't have the will to do so
she squirmed a bit instead
it was a funny joke to him
his arms circled around
come closer, come closer

she laid watching her hand in the moonlight
clench, release
remembering the ruby red ring
that had been roped around her neck
a love she wanted too much and not at all
too many lions and tigers in her head
white tigers- black stripes
a fear of the color red
god, how did we get to be here

she could see it all from above
like a movie everyone could see
but only a sleeping old man bought tickets to
with the usher texting his girlfriend in the last row
she doesn't understand

sly, too sly
his fingers up her shirt
poised to release the clasp on her back
a cat screeches outside
his lips on her ear
it's too hot, but she presses closer
i don't care, let's just go
but she's a good liar

it's all a joke
it has to be
they have to laugh, it's not a big deal
if they didn't, their magnetic field would reactivate
polarizing them to opposite sides of the room
she on the floor
him shooting russians in an xbox video game
she would laugh to see him die

the bra and the shirt hit the floor
leave it there, look at me
let me see
she feels like she's at the doctor
a sick, scared fear of the attention
like he would prick the illusion at any moment
like he held the power he had stolen from her
she was drained and scared and happy in his arms

she fans her fingers across his cheek
to his temple, behind his ear
trying to memorize his face
nakedly afraid that she might never
be put on such a pedestal again
she's thinking maybe she looks prettier
with a smile on her face
but he's still not in love
he's still not buying
and she remembers why she doesn't care

i need you i love you i want you
are in somebody else's bed
nothing of consequence or longer than a syllable
is exchanged beneath the sheets
a mute agreement with no terms
silence is sitting on her heart
like a trapped scream that she doesn't want anybody
to ever, ever hear
she sits up, swallowing the scream

fuck, where is that bra
he pulls her to him
he would be a nice height for a boyfriend
like me and love me roll around her stomach
like an angry ocean of waves
and she doesn't understand

he tucks her into the guest bedroom
a jewel being stuffed back into the jewel box
beautiful for one night
and not expensive enough to avoid being forgotten
for the next year or two
just fucking hold me and never let me go
he kisses her and it means nothing
he says goodnight sweetly but it means nothing
he ambles heavily and indifferently away
and it means everything

silence curls up like a cat
in the pit of her stomach
and her heart shatters like a falling icicle
she needs to talk
she feels too empty
she gave him too much
because she feels so alone
she talks to the ceiling because her phone is in his room
"beau, beau...."
it falls on deaf ears
her best friend isn't there

it's cold and startling in the room
so much that exhaustion and hysteria set in
and she remembers that she doesn't understand anything
why her hair is blowdried
why she's in honors research
she's forgotten why she has a laundry list future
and she doesn't understand why beau
her best friend beau, dear old beau is in the next room
he's sleeping silently, his dog at his feet
but he isn't her best friend at all

he's hidden behind a berlin wall of kisses and touches
and i love you's that were never said
what happens if i break down the wall
and all you were trying to protect has decayed
in your assured absence?

she wants to cry so she doesn't
and she falls asleep in a nice pretty position
still stuck in the movie
and as the camera pans out
and the credits start to roll
she shudders
she swallows nausea
and she doesn't understand

Sometimes what you thought was an interruption
Turns out to be your life.
And sometimes what you thought was your life
Turns out to have been an interruption.
And yet you have to act
As if you were back in the fourth grade
And knew the right answer was Pittsburgh
But put down Bethlehem just to see what would happen ---
How it would feel to be wrong.

Song Lyrics

A fire is burning
She dances amongst the flames
Through all degrees she burns, until there's no more to last
We've come to hurt or be hurt
Love or be loved
Learn by trial and tribulation
And she said

That lie you're living, how's that working out for you?

I hope it's everything you wanted
A life of empty words and pretends
Who are you to do this to me?
You must've been out of your mind

She writes it all down
Just for you to see the mistake you've made
We all have to learn at some point not to go back
Guess this is the end for you
And she said

I was everything you wanted
But now you've thrown it all away

Let it all burn to ashes
And the salt was thrown down
So nothing grows here again
So now I'm gone, I'm out of your way
And I can't see any part of you anymore

The fire doused by a raging sea
The waves crash and smoke seeps away
Into thin air
Doesn't matter now if you're five feet under
Or you're grasping the sand beneath
You're still drowning

Lie to me, lie to me, lie to me
Tell me it's going to work now
You're like a magician, only to impress me with the art of deceit
And she said, lie to me, lie to me
You had your chance to tell the truth
Now all I remember is nothing but false, false, false
Erase yourself from my mind cause this is
Over.

gone

my poetry sucks, I just re read it. i'm such a whiny bitch. wow. ahaha.
i mean i write this blog for me, not for anyone else so it doesnt really matter
that's why i dont tell basically anybody about it
hah. dang. i just want to disappear again.
everything else that ties me to the internet is gone
facebook, twitter, formspring, i dont use my tumblr anymore
i dont have to SEE anything anymore.
maybe that makes me weak to have to avoid people like that
but god, it's blissful to not have to see any part of you
facebook used to kill me. so badly.
the things, the photo albums i saw still get at me.
but id like to think i don't miss the people i used to miss
the ones who loved me so much they hurt me the worst
well, maybe i miss the memories we shared
but i have nothing at all to say to them.
not a word.
i miss you and then realize that all the words have stopped cold in my blood.
because more than i miss you,
i won't forget.
and all the crap you did makes me sick.
so i've moved on... hah
feels like im lying to myself.
i hate liars. makes sense, kind of hate myself for going through this crap
this inconsequential crap that really doesn't amount to anything in the grand scheme of life
im glad its over.
im glad youre gone.
and im glad i dont have to write so much constant crappy poetry anymore.

that lie you're living, how's that working out for you?

Song Lyrics

I don't want to let you go
But it hurts my hands to hold the rope
I won't be such an easy mark
You're no better than a lonely sailor
And all the candles on the cake
All set fire to the gate
Turn the canons toward the boats
Now we're drowning in the moat
It was the end of all of the rowers' hope
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
If you call, then I'm coming out
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
You want to sink, so I'm going to let you
All I want's some earth and seed
To only grow the things I need
But first I must find my way back
And you go lay out on this track
In youth I had an even keel
Now I'm not sure what is real
It's taken me this long to learn
That every day you dig for worms
And once they're gone, they don't return
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
If you call, then I'm coming out
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
You want to sink, so I'm going to let you
Woah, to get you
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
You want to sink, so I'm going to let you
At dawn the fire snuck into your bedroom
Now I'm falling asleep to forget you
How darkly the dark hand met his end
He was withered and bony
Exposed for a phony
But we heed the last words that he penned
"Haste to disgrace the traitor
Do not wait 'til later"
I don't think that you've got to pretend
I see God in birds
And Satan in long words
But I know what you need in a friend
So now when I leave you, I hope I won't see you
How darkly the dark hand met his end
He was withered and bony
Exposed for a phony
But we heed the last words that he penned
"Haste to disgrace the traitor
Do not wait 'til later"
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
If you call, then I'm coming out
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
You want to sink, so I'm going to let you
Woah, to get you
If you call, then I'm coming out
If you call, then I'm coming to get you
You want to sink, so I'm going to let you
At dawn the fire snuck into your bedroom
Now I'm falling asleep to forget you

Sink, Brand New

In the end,

I don’t care about fucking sea imagery

Or having breadth and width to my writing.

I don't care about secrecy

Or covering up my feelings.

Please, call me a stalker, call me hung up,

Call me the spawn of the devil.

Writing takes all the bad stuff out of me

And puts it on a page

A page that functions like a jar

And the publish button screws on the lid.

All the nightmares, and hurt, and lies

And raw fears that plague my brain

Go into the jar,

And I can look at them and laugh

When the lid is on tight

And they can't get me anymore.

So let me say what I need to,

So my fears don't eat me alive.

Because not saying a word,

Might just kill me.

All I want to say is,

Don't talk to me about not working.

It has nothing to do with that.

You screwed me over,

You lied,

You played the wrong chick

Because I was it

And now you shoved it away.

So im gone, trust me

I’m out of your way,

And I can’t see any part of you anymore.

But you already knew,

It was already over,

I don’t need some beach scene to tell you that.
